Beginning January 1, 2022, a newly elected City
Treasurer shall receive an annual salary of $5,000.

The City Treasurer shall, before taking the
oath of office or entering upon any of the duties thereof, give lawful
fidelity bond to the commonwealth for the use of the City of Butler
and the taxing districts involved, with a surety company authorized
by law to act as surety, covering the full term of his office, in
the sum of $640,000, conditioned for the faithful performance of his
official duties and for the accounting for and paying over of all
moneys received by him in his capacity as City Treasurer and the safekeeping
and paying over of all public moneys entrusted to his care, and that
as Tax Collector of city, county, institution district and school
taxes, he shall account for and pay over all moneys received by him
as taxes, penalties and interest and for such other conditions as
may be set forth by law.
The City Treasurer shall, before taking the
oath of office or entering upon any of the duties thereof, furnish
adequate insurance protection in the sum of $5,000 against any and
all losses of the funds entrusted to his care as City Treasurer or
as Tax Collector of city, county, institution district and school
taxes, through fire, burglary, larceny, theft, robbery or forgery.

A. There
is hereby created the position of First Deputy to the Treasurer of
the City.
B. Subject
to the approval of City Council and the Butler Area School District,
the First Deputy shall be appointed by the Treasurer and shall be
directly responsible for and to the Treasurer and shall perform all
duties as directed by the Treasurer. The First Deputy shall serve
at the will of the Treasurer, and this appointment may be terminated
by the Treasurer without cause.
C. In case
of sickness or disability or an extended leave of absence of the Treasurer,
the First Deputy shall have all powers and authority of the Treasurer.
