There is hereby created in the City the office of Police Chief.

Before entering upon the duties of his/her office, the Police
Chief shall give bond with two (2) or more sufficient sureties, to
be approved by the Board of Aldermen, in the sum of one thousand dollars
($1,000.00) conditioned upon the faithful performance of his/her duties
in office.

A. The
Chief of Police is the Director of the Police Department. He/she shall
have immediate and direct control of the Department with the power
and duty to perform all duties required of the Chief of Police by
law, subject to the supervision of the City Administrator and Board
of Aldermen.
B. Upon
the completion of one (1) year of satisfactory service with no negative
items being entered into their personnel file for the last six (6)
months of that year of service, the employee shall become an employee
whose employment will continue without the need for action by the
Board of Aldermen.

The Police Chief shall execute all orders and serve all notices
which are required by law.
[CC 1997 §14-28]
The Police Chief shall, upon request, make monthly reports,
in writing, at the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen, held
on the first (1st) meeting night of each month, of all arrests made,
for what offenses, how disposed of and show the amount of fines collected
and monies coming into his/her hands from all sources.
