The title of this article is "The Creation of the Position,
Duties and Responsibilities of the Office of Town Administrator."
The purpose is to provide the Town of Lawrence with a more efficient,
effective and responsible government under the system of a part-time
Town Board at a time when Town government is becoming increasingly
complex. There is hereby created the office of Town Administrator
(hereinafter "Administrator") for the Town of Lawrence (hereinafter
"Town").
The Administrator shall be appointed on the basis of merit and
qualifications, based on education, training, experience, administrative
ability and general fitness for the office, by a majority vote of
the Town Board of Supervisors (hereinafter "Town Board"). The Administrator
shall hold office for an indefinite term subject to removal any time
by a majority vote of the Town Board. This section, however, shall
not preclude the Town Board from establishing other employment terms
and conditions not within the provisions of this article.
The Administrator, subject to any limitations defined in Wisconsin
State Statutes and/or limitations defined in resolutions or ordinances
of the Town of Lawrence, shall be the chief administrative officer
of the Town, responsible to the Town Chairperson and Town Board for
the proper administration of the business affairs of the Town of Lawrence.
All Administrator duties are more clearly defined in the Town of Lawrence
Administrator job description and are to be performed pursuant to
Wisconsin State Statutes.
All officials and employees of the Town shall cooperate with
and assist the Administrator to enable the Town government to function
effectively and efficiently.
