[Adopted 12-9-2014 by Ord. No 16-2014]
Owners of residential, industrial and commercial properties
located within the City of Gloversville may apply to the City for
installation and/or monitoring of a fire alarm box at said premises.
Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Excessive
costs for installation, logistical complications to provide service
to the physical location, and lack of capacity may serve as a basis
to deny any application, among other reasons. The application shall
require the applicant to expressly agree to hold the City harmless
for any and all liability for losses which a property owner may incur
as a result of any negligence by the owner or any third party, loss
of electrical service, loss of phone service, vandalism to the alarm
box, war, civil disobedience, fire, flood, natural disasters, and
any other act of God.
Any applicants who wish to connect to the City alarm system
must purchase an alarm box specified by the Gloversville Fire Department
at the applicant's expense. The City will provide an estimate of the
labor and equipment cost for installation. The cost of installation
will vary on a case-by-case basis depending upon the logistics involved
with the installation. The applicant shall prepay to the City the
amount of the estimate prior to the commencement of any installation
by the Department of Public Works. The applicant shall be responsible
to the City for any costs incurred beyond the estimate. The applicant
shall be responsible for any labor and materials related to the installation
and connection of the box to the building alarm or sprinkler system.
Upon completion of the installation, the applicant shall be
enrolled in the municipal alarm box system of the City of Gloversville.
There shall be an annual maintenance fee in the amount of $200. This
fee shall be due at the time of enrollment and by January 31 in each
subsequent year. In the event that the owner fails to pay this annual
fee by March 3 of any given year, the fee shall be transferred to
the City tax bill for the subsequent year. Once enrolled, the owner
must provide written notice to the Gloversville Fire Department that
it no longer wishes to connect to the system.
