A. The
duties of Police Commissioners shall be as follows: to participate
in an advisory capacity in personnel decisions including the hiring,
firing, promotion and demotion of Police Officers and other Police
Department employees, to act as the liaison between the Board and
Chief of Police, and to serve as a Police Department representative
to the City residents, professional associations and other third parties
including, but not limited to, neighborhood watch. The Board of Police
Commissioners shall have the collective responsibility of studying
all aspects of policing and make recommendations to the Chief and
the Police for the good of the service.
B. The
Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen shall appoint no
more than eleven (11) members to the Board of Police Commissioners
for the City of Pine Lawn.
