There shall be a Department of Health within the Township.
The head of the Department of Health shall be the Health Officer of the Township as defined in Chapter 282 of the Code of the Township of Maplewood. The Health Officer shall be holder of the Health Officer's license issued by the State Department of Health of New Jersey and shall have thorough education and training in public health theory and practice. Under the supervision of the Health Officer, the division shall:
A. 
Have all functions, powers and duties of the local Board of Health pursuant to Chapters 282, 290, 305, 313, 319, 323 and 332 of the Code of the Township of Maplewood and the New Jersey Administrative Code, except that the Township of Maplewood Board of Health shall have and exercise all local legislative powers under the statutes.
B. 
Plan and administer a comprehensive public health program, including, without limitations thereto, environmental sanitation, communicable disease control, child and adult health and health education, laboratory services and other services authorized by statute or ordinance.
C. 
The Board of Health shall employ such other health professionals as deemed necessary by the Health Officer and approved by the Township of Maplewood Board of Health.

The Division of Social Services be and is hereby moved from the Department of Community Services to the Department of Health, effective immediately.
