Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:10A-1, there is hereby established the office of Local Historian in the Township of Brick. The Local Historian shall be appointed by and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
The Local Historian shall serve without compensation, but the Township Council may annually appropriate such funds as may be necessary to reimburse the Local Historian for expenses incurred in the performance of the duties and responsibilities set forth herein.
Subject to the supervision and control of the Mayor, the Local Historian shall have those powers and responsibilities provided for in N.J.S.A. 40:10A-7 and shall, in addition:
A. 
Coordinate local cultural and public events so as to enhance public interest and awareness in the history and traditions of and continued civic life of the Township.
B. 
Develop additional programs designed to promote public interest and awareness of the history and traditions of and the expanded cultural life of the Township.
C. 
Coordinate his activities with the Brick Township Historical Society and, to the extent possible, provide such assistance as may be reasonably necessary to the Historical Society in the conduct of its activities.
