The Electrical Inspector shall administer and enforce all the
provisions of the New York State Uniform and Fire Prevention and Building
Code* in the Village of New Paltz. (*Note: The National Electrical
Code has been designated as the acceptable standard.) Except as otherwise
provided by the New York State Uniform and Fire Prevention and Building
Code, other state laws, or other sections of this chapter, all buildings,
structures, and premises, regardless of use or occupancy, are subject
to the provisions of this chapter.
The duly appointed Electrical Inspector of the New York Board
of Fire Underwriters or of any other authorized electrical-inspection
agency acceptable to Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation are
hereby authorized and deputized as agents of the Village to make inspections
and reinspections of all electrical installations hereinafter described
and to approve or disapprove the same. In no event, however, will
the cost or expense of such inspections and reinspections be a charge
against the Village.
A fee schedule shall be established by resolution of the Board
of Trustees of the Village of New Paltz. Such fee schedule may thereafter
be amended from time to time by like resolution.
This chapter shall not be construed to relieve from or lessen
the responsibility of any person owning, operating, controlling or
installing any electrical wiring, devices, appliances or equipment
for loss of life or damage to person or property caused by any defect
therein, nor shall the Village or the New York Board of Fire Underwriters
be deemed to have assumed any such liability by reason of any inspection
made pursuant to this chapter.
