The Town of Branford shall apply, under Public Act No. 277 of the 1951
Public Acts, for membership in the old-age and survivors insurance system
under Title II of the Social Security Act, as amended, for employees of the
Town of Branford, excepting therefrom part-time employees and employees excluded
by Section 3 of said Public Act No. 277. The Town Treasurer be, and he is
hereby directed to make deductions from the wages of the aforesaid participating
employees as required by Section 2 of said Act, and forward the amount thereof,
together with the contribution of the Town of Branford, to the
State Employees Retirement Commission, in accordance with the provisions of
said Act and the regulations promulgated thereunder. The effective date of
membership granted pursuant to this application shall be January 1, 1952.
The Board of Selectmen be and it is hereby authorized and empowered
to execute on behalf of the Town of Branford such agreements with the State
Employees Retirement Commission as may be necessary to accomplish the aforesaid
purpose in accordance with the provisions of said Public Act No. 277 and the
regulations promulgated thereunder.
