The Board of Supervisors shall designate by resolution the official contact for receipt and disposition of requests for official records pursuant to § 2.1-342 of the Code of Virginia.

Records to which this chapter applies shall be those of all county departments and offices that are under the direct control of the Board of Supervisors, except that Constitutional Officers may elect, in writing, to have requests for records from their office be directed to the official contact.
All requests for official records shall be in writing and kept on file for a period of time of not less than six (6) months.
