No person, firm or corporation shall hawk or peddle from house to house or street to street any goods, wares or merchandise of any description within the Township, or drive any peddler's cart, wagon or automobile within the Township, without first procuring a license therefor from the Chief of Police of the Township in the manner and under the conditions hereinafter prescribed, provided that this article shall not apply to any person engaged in the delivery of goods, wares or merchandise in the regular course of business to the premises of persons ordering the same.
Each applicant for such a license shall give to the Chief of Police, in writing, his or her name, address and such personal data as is required to identify him, together with the nature of the goods, wares or merchandise to be sold and any prior convictions of crime.
Each such applicant, upon paying the fee required by this article, shall be issued a license by the Chief of Police; provided, however, that no person who has been convicted of crime shall be issued any such license.

The fee for the license required by this article shall be $50 per year. Each such license shall expire one year (12 months) after issuance.
Each licensee shall carry the license at all times and shall exhibit it to any person upon request.
No such license shall be issued to any person who has not complied with any law of the State of New Jersey or ordinance of the Township.
No person, firm or corporation, whether licensed or not, shall visit or call at any private residence for the purpose of peddling goods, wares or merchandise when banned by the householder by a sign bearing words to the effect that peddlers are not invited or are prohibited.
Any such license so issued may be revoked by the Chief of Police for violation of this or any other ordinance of the Township regulating peddlers or for any false information given in the said application.[1]

This article is in addition to any other ordinance or ordinances regulating peddlers, transient merchants, itinerant vendors of merchandise, solicitation or canvassing within the Township.
