The City Council shall appoint a single Assessor, who shall perform the duties and possess the powers provided by the applicable statutes of New Jersey and the ordinances of the City.

Said Assessor shall be qualified by experience and training for the performance of the duties of the office[1] and shall devote his full time to said position. He shall hold office for the term prescribed by law and shall be paid such compensation as may from time to time be prescribed by the salary ordinances of the City of Garfield. [2]
