A. There is hereby created a Department of Tax Collection.
B. The head of the Department of Tax Collection shall
be the Tax Collector, who shall be appointed by the Township Manager
for a term of four years from the first day of January next following
his appointment until the successor is appointed and qualified. The
person appointed as Township Tax Collector shall possess the necessary
certifications and education required by law. The Collector shall
post a bond in the amount required by law.
A. The head of the Department of Tax Collection shall
be the Tax Collector. The Township Tax Collector shall have, perform
and discharge other functions, powers and duties prescribed for Tax
Collectors by general law and municipal ordinance. He shall:
(1) Receive and collect all moneys assessed or raised
by taxes or assessment for any purpose or by other Township ordinance
at the direction of the Township Manager.
(2) Keep proper records and report to the Township Council,
at least once a month, all receipts and deposits made by him and in
such report account for all moneys for which he is responsible.
B. There shall be the office of the Deputy Tax Collector
who shall be appointed by the Township Manager for a term of four
years from the first day of July next following his appointment until
his successor is appointed and qualified. The Deputy Tax Collector
shall have all of the powers and shall perform all of the duties of
the Tax Collector during such times and for such periods as the Tax
Collector shall be absent or otherwise unavailable.
