The Township Committee shall consist of five
members elected at large by a plurality of the votes cast at the general
election. (The general election shall be held on the Tuesday next
after the first Monday in November in each year.) Each member shall
hold office for a term of three years, commencing at 12:00 noon on
January 1 next succeeding his election.
The Township Committee shall exercise all legislative
powers of the Township pursuant to law.
A majority of the entire number of members of
the Township Committee shall constitute a quorum, and no action shall
be taken or ordinance adopted by the Committee without the affirmative
vote of a majority of the entire Committee. If a quorum is not present
1/2 hour after the appointed time for any meeting, the Mayor, Vice
Chairman, presiding officer or the Clerk may declare the meeting adjourned.
The vote upon every motion, resolution or ordinance
shall, when requested, be taken by roll call, and the yeas and nays
shall be entered on the minutes. The minutes of each meeting shall
be signed by the Township Clerk.
The following order of business may be observed
during regular meetings:
C. Greeting of the public and an invitation for discussion.
D. Reports of standing committees and department heads.
E. Presentation of communications, petitions, etc.
G. Introduction of ordinances.
H. Ordinances on second and third readings and final
passage.
