The Division of Fire Services shall maintain an inventory of
all underground tanks owned and maintained by the Town of Colonie
and its special districts. All regulatory requirements for such tanks,
including testing and renewal of all necessary licenses, shall be
the responsibility of the Division of Fire Services. Additionally,
removal of such tanks shall be the responsibility of said Division.
Although not required, any information pertaining to the removal
of underground tanks on properties in the Town of Colonie should be
provided to the Division of Fire Services by the private property
owners and companies engaged in such activities. The Division of Fire
Services shall maintain this information as a public resource as many
purchasers of homes and businesses are interested in whether underground
tanks have been removed at a site. This inventory shall be maintained
strictly as a public service and with no guarantee as to the information
provided to the Division of Fire Services. To the extent possible,
the Division of Fire Services will try to obtain confirming documentary
proof of a tank's removal.
