A.

No person shall maintain upon premises which they own or occupy a cross-connection between the distribution system, the water of which is being used for drinking, domestic or culinary purposes and the distribution system of any unapproved water source, unless the installation has been reviewed and approved by the Water Division and proper permits have been issued.
C. 
The Water Division may terminate any water service connection to any facility where cross-connections are maintained without required backflow prevention devices which have been approved by the Water Division.
D. 
All owners or operators of commercial, industrial or institutional premises served by the Water Division shall authorize agents and employees of the commonwealth, upon presentation of their credentials, to enter their premises for the purpose of inspecting and surveying their water systems for cross-connections and assuring compliance with these regulations.

B. 
The customer shall protect against the possibility of backflow between public supply and any plumbing, fixture, device or appliance by furnishing and installing a backflow prevention device acceptable to the Water Division and commensurate with the degree of potential hazard in accordance with state regulations.
C. 
The backflow prevention device shall be installed on the service pipe at the entrance to the customer's premises, and all water entering the premises shall pass through the protective device in accordance with Water Division specifications.
D. 
The Water Division may periodically inspect and test the backflow prevention device. The frequency shall depend upon the degree of potential hazard. The Water Division shall require the customer to repair the device when necessary.
