Except as provided in the Zoning Act or this bylaw, no building, structure, or land shall be used except for the purposes permitted in the district as described in this article. Any use not listed but similar in character may be permitted by special permit granted by the Zoning Board of Appeals.

In the following Table of Use Regulations the uses permitted by right in the district shall be designated by the letter "P." Those uses that may be permitted by a Zoning Board of Appeals special permit in the district, in accordance with § 300-36, shall be designated by the letter "S." Those uses that may be permitted by a Planning Board special permit in the district, in accordance with § 300-36, shall be designated by the letters "PB." Uses designated "--" shall not be permitted in the district.
Uses permitted by right or granted special permits shall be subject, in addition to use regulations, to all other provisions of the bylaw.
