As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BICYCLE
Any two- or three-wheeled device upon which a person may ride, propelled by human power through a belt, a chain or gears with such wheels in a tandem or tricycle, except that it shall not include such a device having solid tires and intended for use only on a sidewalk by pre-teenage children.
Bicycles shall be equipped with bells, lamps and brakes in good working order as provided in § 1236 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Operation on roadways and public places shall be in accordance with Article 34 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
No person shall ride a bicycle on the sidewalks of the Village of Central Square except as provided in § 212-9 of this Municipal Code.
The violation of any provision of this chapter shall be a violation, and any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be liable to a fine of not more than $250 or to not more than 15 days imprisonment, or both such fine and imprisonment.
