The Mayor may, in his discretion and with the advice and consent of the Borough Council, annually appoint not less than three nor more than 12 persons, employees or citizens and residents of the Borough as members of a Board of Recreation. He may also, in his discretion, annually appoint a Director of Recreation. The Board of Recreation shall explore the recreation needs of the Borough and plan the best use of volunteer help and of public and private facilities and/or funds for that purpose and shall plan, organize and administer a recreation program for the young people of the Borough. The Director of Recreation, if appointed, shall assist the Board of Recreation in the above duties and serve as technical advisor and consultant to the Board and to the Mayor and Council and may also be given executive responsibilities under the Mayor and Council for the recreation program.
An annual salary of the Director of Recreation shall be established as provided by law.
