No person shall commence the erection or demolition
of a building of such height and proximity to the street line as to
subject pedestrians using the adjacent sidewalk area to the danger
of falling materials, objects or other occurrences in the course of
the work without first erecting a substantial shed over the sidewalk
area and/or a substantial fence along the street line and/or other
safeguards, as reasonably determined and directed by the Building
Inspector.
Written notice of the requirement of such safeguards,
specifying the particular safeguards to be provided, shall be given
by the Building Inspector to the owner of the premises concerned or
the person intending to do or cause to be done the work of erection
or demolition.
