The recited condition created by the unauthorized use of shopping carts is declared
to constitute a nuisance.
The operator of any food market within the Borough of Carlisle shall,
within 60 days after the effective date of this chapter, permanently affix
or permanently stamp on each shopping cart utilized by the market the owner's
name or mark for the purpose of identifying the said owner.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
CART
A basket which is mounted on wheels or a similar device, generally
used in a retail establishment by a customer for the purpose of transporting
goods of any kind.

Any person, firm, corporation, association, partnership or other entity
that shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof,
for each and every such violation, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more
than $600 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine
and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 30 days. Each day on which any
such violation shall continue shall constitute a separate violation.
