The Borough Council shall, by resolution, annually before the commencement
of a fiscal year, appoint a certified public accountant or firm of certified
public accountants to audit the accounts, records and all other evidences
of financial transactions of the Borough and Borough officers for the fiscal
year then closing, and to file a report thereof to Borough Council, and perform
all duties and be subject to the same penalties and obligations as are imposed
by law on an elected Borough auditor.
This chapter is enacted under the authority of the Act of the General
Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania No. 116 of 1963 and, as provided
therein, upon appointment of said certified public accountant or firm of certified
public accountants, the office of Borough Auditor is thereby abolished.
The resolution appointing said certified public accountant shall fix
the compensation to be paid from Borough funds for said services.
