Every owner of a dwelling house or other building fronting on a public street, avenue or highway within the limits of the Borough shall number the same at his or her own expense in such manner and within such time as is hereinafter described.
The system for determining the numbers of houses shall be as follows: Market Street shall be the line of beginning for the numbering of all streets, avenues or highways crossing or extending east and west therefrom, the odd numbers to be on the north side of said streets, avenues or highways and the even numbers on the south side of the same, and provided that the Perkiomen Creek along the northeast branch of the Perkiomen shall be the line of beginning for the numbering of streets, avenues or highways and the even numbers on the west side of the same.
The numbering shall be by blocks or squares, and the basis shall be two numbers to each lot.
All measurements necessary to carry out the purpose and intent of this chapter shall be under the direction and control of the person recommended to do this work.
Violations of this chapter shall be punishable as set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article II, Violations and Penalties.
