[Adopted 1-17-1995]
A.
Trash items such as televisions, refrigerators, chairs, tires, etc., will be picked up by Village of Owego employees as a service paid for by Village residents. The Village of Owego will not pick up any household garbage or hazardous/toxic waste. Pickup is on Friday of each week (holiday weeks if possible), and the cutoff to get onto the Friday pickup list is 12:00 noon on Thursday. Any property owner can call the Village office, state their name, address and items to be picked up and be placed on the trash pickup list for that week. If a call is placed after 12:00 noon on Thursday, the resident's pickup request will be placed on the following Friday's list. A property owner may be billed for services, but a tenant must pay in advance and leave a deposit for the estimated tipping fee. All unpaid trash bills will be levied against the property owner's tax bill.
B.
All items to be picked up by Village of Owego employees must be placed in the berm area in front of their property. No Village of Owego employee is permitted to enter a residence to extract trash items as this is an insurance liability to the Village.
