The provisions of this article shall apply except
when it is necessary to stop a vehicle to avoid conflict with other
traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or
official traffic control device.

A. Wherever a space shall be marked off on any street
for the parking of an individual vehicle, every vehicle there parked
shall be parked within the lines bounding such space.
B. Except where angle parking is authorized, every vehicle
stopped, standing or parked upon a highway where there are no adjacent
curbs shall be so stopped, standing or parked parallel with the edge
of the roadway headed in the direction of lawful traffic.
C. Due to safety reasons involving obstructed vision
pertaining to pedestrians, children, emergency vehicles and other
motorists, no vehicle or transport device longer than 21 feet 10 inches,
inclusive of load and bumper (even if not attached), nor wider than
seven feet 10 inches, as measured by the body, nor higher than seven
feet two inches, as measured from the underside of the tire to the
top of the vehicle, shall park upon any street within any residential
district in the Town of Tonawanda. This provision is applicable, but
not limited to, boats and/or jet skis with trailers, recreational
campers, vehicle transport carriers or trailers.
D. Due to safety reasons, no trailer of any description,
regardless of size, without an attached motorized vehicle, shall park
upon any street within any residential district in the Town of Tonawanda.
E. The provisions of the above Subsection
C shall not apply to:
(1) Vehicles parked because of an emergency or at a police
officer's direction.
(2) Vehicles of the Town of Tonawanda, fire apparatus,
ambulances or vehicles engaged in the work of a public utility.
(3) Vehicles engaged in the making of pickups and/or deliveries
or rendering services in or upon any property adjacent to the street
where said vehicle is parked.

The standing or parking of vehicles is hereby
prohibited on all streets and highways within the Town between the
hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., beginning November 15 of each year
and ending March 15 of the next succeeding year.
The Town may, in times of emergency or when
necessity requires, prohibit the parking of vehicles on any street,
avenue or property hereinbefore or hereinafter referred to, where
such parking would interfere with snow or ice removal or repairs to
the street or might endanger the public in the use of any such street,
avenue or property, and the posting of printed notices in the area
affected shall be sufficient notice to the public of such fact, and
all persons shall comply therewith.

The parking, standing or stopping of vehicles
in the locations described in Schedule XI of the Town of Tonawanda
Parking, Standing and Stopping Regulations, on file in the Town of
Tonawanda Police Department and in the Town Clerk's office, is hereby
restricted as follows:
A. In locations designated as "no parking," the parking
of vehicles is prohibited at all times or during the hours or time
periods indicated, if any.
B. In locations designated as "limited parking," the
parking of vehicles is hereby prohibited for a longer period of time
than that specified during the hours indicated, if any.
C. In locations designated for "angle parking," vehicles
may stand or be parked only diagonally during the time periods indicated.
D. In locations designated as "no standing," the standing
of vehicles is hereby prohibited at all times or during the hours
indicated, if any.
E. In locations designated as "no stopping," the stopping
of vehicles is hereby prohibited at all times or during the hours
indicated, if any.
F. In locations designated as "bus stops," the parking,
standing or stopping of vehicles, other than buses, is hereby prohibited.
G. In locations designated as "loading zones," the parking
and standing of vehicles, except for the express purpose of loading
or unloading merchandise and goods, is hereby prohibited.
H. In locations designated as "taxistands," the parking,
standing or stopping of vehicles, other than taxis, is hereby prohibited.
Taxis using such stands shall not be left unattended and shall be
subject to all other vehicle and traffic regulations of the Town.

There is hereby authorized the permanent installation of fold-down signs that will be locked in a down position until a need for said sign display is ordered by the Traffic Bureau, upon authorization of the Chief of Police or his delegated authority, as described in Schedule XII of the Town of Tonawanda Parking, Standing and Stopping Regulations, on file in the Town of Tonawanda Police Department and in the Town Clerk's office. When said signs are in effect as provided above, the parking, standing or stopping of vehicles in the locations described in said schedule is restricted as provided in §
205-21.
