The survey, plan and system for the numbering
of houses and buildings prepared by the Municipal/Consulting Engineer,
a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby approved and adopted.
On and after the passage and approval of this
chapter, it shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee, lessee,
agent and occupant of each and every house, building or other structure
in the City of Greensburg to cause the same to be numbered in accordance
with this chapter and the system and plan hereby adopted and approved.
Main Street shall be the dividing line between
east and west, and Pittsburgh Street shall be the dividing line between
north and south. The initial point in numbering houses on streets
extending north and south shall be at Pittsburgh Street, and the initial
point in numbering houses on streets running east and west shall be
at Main Street. North of Pittsburgh Street the numbers shall commence
at one (1) and extend northwardly consecutively, and south of Pittsburgh
Street the numbers shall commence at one hundred one (101) and shall
extend southwardly consecutively. East of Main Street the numbers
shall commence at one (1) and extend eastwardly consecutively, and
west of Main Street the numbers shall commence at one (1) and shall
extend westwardly consecutively, in accordance with the attached plan. All even numbers shall be on the south and west sides
of the street, and all odd numbers shall be on the north and east
sides of the street. The houses on short or intermediate streets shall
be numbered uniformly with the main streets paralleling them, whether
they begin at the initial point or not.

Any person or persons, firm or corporation who
shall number or attempt to number any house or building contrary to
this chapter and the plan hereby approved and adopted or who shall
fail or neglect to number their house or building in accordance herewith
or who shall fail to change the number thereof on notification of
the Municipal/Consulting Engineer, and any person or persons who shall
alter, deface, remove or destroy any number required to be displayed
by this chapter shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine
of not more than six hundred dollars ($600.) or be imprisoned for
a period not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
