The installation of oil-burning appliances and their auxiliary and accessory apparatus shall be in accordance with the amended regulations of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) No. 31, Standard for the Installation of Oil-Burning Equipment.

No oil burner shall be installed in the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson without application being made therefor to the Building Inspector, accompanied by a fee to be determined by the Village Board by resolution and set in the fee schedule.[2]

Before use of said apparatus is begun, it shall be inspected by the Building Inspector of the village, who shall determine if the installation conforms with the regulations as published, and, if it does, he shall issue a permit for the operation of the apparatus in question.

Failure to obtain an operation permit as provided in § 204-3, before using the appliances, shall be punished subject to the penalties prescribed by § 1-14 of the Village Code.
