This article is enacted in the interests of
the welfare, safety and good order of the Town of Thompson and its
inhabitants and particularly for the establishment of a fire vehicle
zone for all emergency vehicles at the Monticello Mall, a shopping
center located on Route 42, north of the Village of Monticello, New
York, being authorized by § 1660-a of the Vehicle and Traffic
Law of the State of New York and having been recommended by the Planning
Board of the Town of Thompson and the Fire Department of the Village
of Monticello.
There is hereby established a fire vehicle zone
at the Monticello Mall in the Town of Thompson, the dimensions and
legal description of which shall be as follows:
A. All that parcel of land situate in the Town of Thompson,
County of Sullivan, State of New York, being a passageway around the
main parking rear of the Monticello Mall; the outside bounds are described
as follows: beginning at the easterly road bounds of Route 42, said
point being 25 feet southwardly from the projection of the northerly
side of the store building of Jamesway and Victory stores and running
thence parallel with said building side projection eastwardly 557
feet more or less to a point 11 feet from the front of said building;
thence parallel with the front of said building southwardly 479 feet;
thence at right angles westwardly 364 feet; thence northwestwardly
146 feet; thence westwardly 127 feet more or less to the easterly
side of the aforesaid Route 42 and 370 feet from the place of beginning.
B. The passageway parallel with the front of the building,
being 30 feet wide and the rest being 25 feet wide.
C. The inside corner of the roadway at the northerly
end of the building is increased by a triangle with a north-south
leg of 20 feet and east-west leg of 10 feet. The inside corner at
the southerly end of the building is increased by a triangle with
a north-south leg of 40 feet and an east-west leg of 20 feet.

It shall be unlawful for any vehicle to stop,
stand or park within said zone except when necessary to avoid conflict
with other traffic or in compliance with the direction of a police
officer, Sheriff's deputy or law enforcement officer and except duly
authorized emergency vehicles.

A violation of this article shall be deemed
to be a traffic infraction, and the penalty which may be imposed,
upon a conviction for a violation of this article, shall be as provided
in § 1800 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The Supervisor of the Town of Thompson shall
be authorized and directed to purchase appropriate signs for the prohibited
areas, and the Town Highway Superintendent is hereby ordered and directed
to install said signs and thereafter to maintain the same.
