The office of Deputy Borough Clerk is hereby created, and the appointment of such Deputy Borough Clerk is hereby authorized.
The Mayor shall nominate and, with the advice and consent of the Council, appoint such Deputy Borough Clerk. If the Mayor fails to make such appointment or if the Borough Council fails to consent to any appointment made by the Mayor, then after the expiration of 60 days, the Borough Council shall appoint such Deputy Borough Clerk. Any vacancy in the position which may occur, whether the same occurs by death, resignation or otherwise, shall be filled in the same manner for the unexpired term, except that the sixty-day period within which the Mayor may appoint or the Council may consent shall be computed from the day the vacancy occurs.
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall be a resident of the borough and shall hold office during the pleasure of the Council. He shall not be removed without being afforded an opportunity to be heard. Unless sooner removed, however, he shall hold office until December 31 of the year of his appointment and until his successor shall have qualified.
The compensation of the Deputy Borough Clerk shall be fixed by the annual Salary Ordinance of the borough.[1]

A. 
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall have all the powers and perform all the duties of the Borough Clerk during such times and for such specific periods as the Borough Clerk shall be absent. In addition, he shall perform such duties as may be assigned to him by the Mayor and Council from time to time.
B. 
The Deputy Borough Clerk may also hold another appointed position.[1]
