There shall be in and for the Borough of Oaklyn a Board of Health in
accordance with the provisions of the act of the legislature of New Jersey
entitled. "An Act to Establish in This State, Board of Health and Bureau of
Vital Statistics and to Define Their Respective Powers and Duties," approved
March 31, 1887, and the several supplements thereto.

The Board of Health shall consist of seven members. All
members of said Board of Health shall be appointed by the Mayor of the Borough
of Oaklyn upon the advice and consent of at least 1/2 of the members
of the Borough Council, and said members of said Board of Health shall hold
office for the term of three years except in the case of vacancies, which
vacancies shall be filled for the balance of the unexpired term.
Said Board of Health shall adopt rules and regulations for its own government
and shall elect a President from among its own members.
Said Board of Health shall appoint a Registrar of Vital Statistics,
a Clerk and a Sanitary Inspector and may also appoint such other officers
or assistants as said Board of Health shall deem necessary. All appointees
of said Board of Health shall be governed by the rules of said Board, and
such appointees may be removed for cause by said Board. The marshals of said
Borough when on police duty shall be sanitary inspectors, and they shall promptly
report to the Board of Health every violation of the Health Ordinance of the
Borough which may come within their observance or knowledge.
The said Board of Health shall not contract any debt or debts of any
kind beyond the amount of the appropriation made for its use by the Council.
