The Fire Marshal shall be responsible for fire
prevention and fire code enforcement in the Township. The Fire Marshal
shall be appointed by and be responsible to the Township Manager.
The duties of the Fire Marshal shall be to:
A. Initiate and administer the fire prevention program
for the municipality.
B. Serve as liaison between the Township and the volunteer
fire companies.
C. Conduct investigations in cooperation with appropriate
police authorities into suspected crimes relating to fire.
D. Develop and conduct community relations and education
programs.
E. Enforce laws, ordinances, rules and regulations relating
to fire and fire hazards.
F. Enforce the Fire Prevention Code.

Nothing in this chapter or the Fire Prevention
Code shall restrict or hamper the volunteer fire companies of the
Township. Each fire company shall operate as an autonomous entity
in accordance with its own charter, bylaws and rules, except as limited
by the Pennsylvania Second Class Township Code and as to accounting procedures which have been adopted
by the companies in conjunction with the Board of Supervisors as to
annual appropriations by the Township to the companies. The Fire Chief
and subordinate officers of each company shall be in complete command
of all fires and fire-related emergencies occurring within their respective
districts of the Township.

A. Three deputy
fire marshals shall be appointed, each for a period of one year, by
the Township Manager, after considering recommendations for the positions
by the Emergency Services Management Administrator, as defined in
this chapter, who shall make such recommendations on or before the
first day of December of each year for the succeeding year. Such recommendations
shall be advisory only. The Township Manager shall have the right
to remove any of the Deputy Fire Marshals from office at any time
with or without cause. Qualified candidates for appointment as Deputy
Fire Marshals may be selected from any of the three Township fire
companies or from the Township staff, at the discretion of the Township
Manager.
B. The duties
of the Deputy Fire Marshals shall be to make required public fire
safety inspections and investigations for cause and origin of fires
and such additional tasks as directed by the Fire Marshal.
