In accordance with § 1204 of the Charter,
authorities, boards and commissions in existence on the effective
date of the Charter shall continue in existence subject to the right
of the Supervisors to abolish or change the name, tenure, composition,
functions, powers or duties of any existing authority, board or commission.
The boards and commissions specified in this
Administrative Code are hereby recognized for the purposes of the
proper and efficient conduct of Township affairs, as well as to protect
and promote the rights of the citizens of Whitemarsh Township to participate
in a positive and constructive manner in the government of the Township.
No board or commission shall have the authority
to spend Township funds unless provided for in the budget and subsequently
approved by the Township Manager. Such Township employees as designated
by the Township Manager, or as otherwise provided for in this Administrative
Code, shall serve as liaison to and provide staff services to the
board or commission. No board or commission shall have the power to
enter into contracts unless otherwise provided by the ordinances of
Whitemarsh Township.
