The purposes of this chapter are:
A. To repeal all local laws and ordinances, including Local
Law No. 2 of 1975 and Local Law No. 6 of 1976, regulating the annual levels
of compensation of the Village Mayor and Trustees.
B. To provide that the position of Village Mayor may be
filled on either a part-time or full-time basis.

C. To mandate the procedure to be followed for any future
adjustments in the annual level of compensation of the Village Mayor and Trustees.

The services of the Village Mayor may be provided on either a part-time or full-time basis, and the annual compensation of the Village Mayor shall be as set by resolution of the Board of Trustees in accordance with §
51-4.

The annual compensation of each Trustee of the Village of Great Neck
Plaza shall be in the amount established by resolution of the Board of Trustees.
All future adjustments to the annual compensation levels of the Village
Mayor and the Village Trustees shall be made through budgetary procedures,
including the adoption of tentative and final budgets and of budget resolutions
adopted during a fiscal year, rather than through the adoption of a superseding
local law.
Local Law No. 2 of 1975, Local Law No. 6 of 1976 and all prior local
laws or ordinances regulating the annual levels of compensation of the Village
Mayor and the Village Trustees are hereby repealed.
This chapter shall become effective 30 days after its adoption and upon
being filed in the office of the Secretary of State, with an additional copy
to be filed with the Department of Audit and Control, subject to the permissive
referendum procedures set forth in the Village Law.
