The Board of Trustees of the Village of Great Neck Plaza hereby finds
that in order to protect the public health and promote the general health
and welfare of the residents of the Village of Great Neck Plaza it is necessary
to prevent the future installation of existing wood- and coal-burning stoves
used for space-heating purposes within the Village of Great Neck Plaza.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
No person, firm or corporation shall install or cause to be installed
any wood- or coal-burning stove used for space heating in any building within
the Village of Great Neck Plaza.

A. This chapter is not intended to restrict, nor shall it
prohibit, the use and installation of open-flame wood-burning fireplaces.
B. The exception contained in Subsection
A of this section shall not apply to open-flame wood-burning fireplaces located in any structure on the west side of Pearce Place within the Incorporated Village of Great Neck Plaza.
Any person who violates the provisions of this chapter shall be subject
to a fine of up to $250 or be imprisoned for not more than 15 days, or both,
for each such violation.
