A. All primary buildings shall be required to display
the assigned property number.
(1) All primary buildings containing multiple dwelling
units and/or commercial or office tenancies shall display the property
number or building number for the structure or the name of the complex,
as appropriate, on the exterior of the building, or on a ground sign.
(2) In the case of a multifamily or commercial complex
with more than one primary building, each building within the complex
shall display the building number, or the range of unit numbers housed
within the building, on the building exterior.
(3) If a post-mounted mail delivery box is located at curbside in front of a building which it serves, the property number shall be displayed on the mailbox, in addition to or as an alternative to the display of numbers on the building exterior. Either the numbers mounted on the exterior of the structure, or the numbers displayed on the mailbox must conform to the standards of §
596-11.
(4) If several mail delivery boxes are grouped together
to serve the occupants of multiple buildings or units, each mailbox
shall be labeled with the number of the building or unit which it
serves, and the building or unit shall also be required to display
the assigned property and/or unit numbers.
(5) If a dwelling unit within a two- , three- , or four-family structure has been assigned an address which is based upon a street other than the street upon which the primary address of the structure is based, pursuant to §
596-5H(3) then the entrance to said unit shall be identified not only by the display of the assigned number, but also by the name of the street upon which the address to that unit is based, which street name shall be spelled out in lettering meeting the same standards as the property numbers for size, color, and location as specified in §
596-11 of this chapter, and shall be displayed so as to be clearly visible from the street on which the unit address is based.

(6) Secondary
or rear entrances of commercial properties shall be required to display
the assigned property number and street name in two-inch letters on
a contrasting background.

B. All mobile homes within a mobile home park shall be
required to display the assigned lot number on the exterior of the
mobile home.
C. All newly constructed, reconstructed, altered, or
enlarged primary buildings shall be required to display the property
number (or numbers) before a certificate of occupancy is issued.
D. Any existing residential, mixed occupancy or other
building which is required to have a certificate of occupancy prior
to sale, transfer, grant, or other disposition, shall be required
to display the property number before the certificate of occupancy
is issued.
