Beginning January 1, 2006, the Mayor, City Council, the City Treasurer and the City Controller shall be entitled to receive individual/single coverage health insurance through the City of Butler at a cost to the City not to exceed $302 per month. If an elected official declines coverage, the elected official shall be entitled to payment in lieu of coverage in the amount of $151 per month. Dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage for elected officials shall be discontinued. If permitted by the insurance provider, each elected official shall be permitted to participate in any of the City's group insurance plans, provided he or she shall pay for 100% of the premium cost, for dental, vision, life and disability coverage and all premium in excess of $302 per month for the elected officials choice of health insurance coverage.
This article shall become effective upon final adoption, but shall not affect the insurance coverage available to elected officials currently in office during their current term. This article shall be effective for those elected officials taking office on or after January 1, 2006. All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with this article are hereby repealed insofar as any conflict exists.
