Premises with landscaping and lawns, hedges and bushes shall be kept trimmed and kept from becoming overgrown and unsightly where exposed to public view.
It shall be the duty of the lessee or person having charge, or if there is no lessee or person having charge then the owner, of each and every parcel of land in this Village fronting upon any street or highway to cut or cause to be cut and removed all grass, brush and weeds growing between the curb or edge of roadway and the sidewalk or pathway at least once in each month from May to October, inclusive.
It shall be the duty of the owner, lessee or other person in possession or having charge of each and every parcel of land in this Village to keep said parcel free of poison ivy, poison sumac, ragweed, goldenrod and other harmful weeds and rank or noxious vegetation.
Upon default of the owners or other persons responsible therefor to perform the work as specified in § 218-3, 218-4 or 218-5, the Village may perform the same, and upon receipt of a verified statement of the Superintendent of Public Works, who shall cause such work to be performed, the Village Trustees shall direct that the amount thereof for each work, including, in addition, a charge of 50% as compensation to the Village for supervising, administering and handling such work, shall be added to the next assessment roll of general Village taxes and shall be collected and enforced in the same manner, by the same proceedings, at the same time and under the same penalties as the general Village tax and as a part thereof.
