A.
General. Notwithstanding any provision of this chapter
to the contrary, it is hereby determined that in order to protect the public
health, safety and welfare of the residents of the Village of Caledonia it
is essential that certain Village employees and officers reside in locations
in reasonably close proximity to the Village to enable them to report to duty
in emergency situations in a timely fashion.
B.
Applicability. The special residency requirements of this Article IV of this chapter are applicable to all employees and appointed Village officers of the Village Police Department and Streets and Water or Public Works Department and are in addition to any other standards required by law.
C.
Standards. All Village officers of the foregoing departments
as well as all employees thereof shall reside in a locality that is situated
not more than 15 minutes' commuting time by motor vehicle from their
customary office or place of duty in the Village unless such residency standard
is otherwise amended by resolution of the Board of Trustees for good cause.
