The following health insurance policies and
procedures constitute the health insurance policy for the Town of
Greenwich in regard to employees' health and medical insurance. Said
policy may be amended from time to time by the Greenwich Town Board.

A. All full-time highway employees and full-time appointed employees
who commenced work prior to March 1, 2003, and all full-time elected
officials are entitled to fully paid single, double or family coverage
from the health insurance company selected by the Town each year to
provide health insurance plans for the eligible Town employees or
elected officials.
B. Current part-time elected officials are entitled to fully paid single
coverage only effective January 1, 2004.
C. All full-time highway employees and full-time appointed employees
who commenced work after March 1, 2003, are entitled to single, double
or family coverage from the health insurance company selected by the
Town each year to provide health insurance plans for the eligible
Town employees or elected officials and must contribute 20% of their
monthly premium by way of payroll deduction.
D. The Town will annually select at least one health insurance company
to provide health insurance plans for the eligible Town employees.
The Town will designate one of those health insurance plans as the
one for which they will pay the appropriate amount of the premium.
The Town may also offer other health insurance plans, with different
coverage, that the employees may choose provided the employee pays,
by payroll deduction, any additional cost to the Town over and above
the designated health insurance plan cost. The employees may only
choose the nondesignated health insurance coverage during the open
enrollment period.
E. Part-time elected officials may purchase additional medical insurance,
by payroll deduction, at the Town's group rate.
F. Part-time nonseasonal employees may purchase additional medical insurance,
by payroll deduction, at the Town's group rate.
G. Seasonal employees are not eligible for medical insurance from the
Town nor are they eligible to purchase medical insurance from the
Town.
As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE
Any employee who is regularly scheduled to work at least
30 hours per week.
PART-TIME EMPLOYEE
Any employee who is regularly scheduled to work fewer than
30 hours per week.
SEASONAL EMPLOYEE
Any employee who is regularly scheduled to work fewer than
twelve months per year.
