The position of Borough Administrator of the
Borough of Dunellen is hereby created and the employment of a person
professionally trained and educated and who shall qualify by such
requirements generally recognized by the professional organization
of municipal administrators in order to fill such position is hereby
authorized.
The Borough Administrator shall receive as compensation
for his services an annual salary which shall be fixed in accordance
with the ordinance governing salaries.
The Borough Administrator shall be appointed
by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Borough Council for
an indefinite term and may not be removed except in accordance with
the statute in such case made and provided.
The Borough Administrator shall report to the
Mayor and the Borough Council administratively.
The Administrator may be removed by a majority
vote of authorized membership. The resolution of removal shall become
effective three months after its adoption by the Council. The Council
may provide that the resolution shall have immediate effect; provided,
however, that the Council shall cause to be paid to the Administrator
forthwith any unpaid balance of his salary for the next three calendar
months following adoption of the resolution. Nothing herein to the
contrary withstanding, the Borough Council shall have the right to
remove the Administrator for cause.
The Administrator shall not engage in any political
activity, nor shall he make any financial contributions to any local
political campaign.

The Borough Administrator shall be chosen on
the basis of his executive end administrative abilities and qualifications
with special regard to education, training and experience in governmental
affairs. A person appointed to the office of Borough Administrator
need not be a resident of the Borough.
