No person, contrary to the rules and regulations of the Library,
shall retain or fail to return any book or article borrowed from the
Washington Public Library after 15 days have elapsed from the date
of mailing, by certified mail with return receipt requested, of a
notice demanding return thereof, addressed to the said person at his
or her last known address.
No person shall willfully or maliciously cut, tear, deface,
disfigure, damage or destroy any book or other article or any part
thereof which is owned by or is in the custody of the Washington Public
Library.
No person shall take any book or property from the Library without
first having it charged to his borrower's card.
No person shall register or furnish a false name or address
or any other false information or use any card other than the one
issued to said person for the purpose of borrowing any book or other
article from said Library.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall
be subject to a fine not exceeding $500 or to imprisonment for a term
not exceeding 90 days, or both.
