For the purpose of this chapter, the words "sign," "directional sign," and "wall sign" shall be defined as provided in §
300-70.2. The words "enforcement official" shall be defined as such person as may be designated by the Board of Trustees to enforce the provisions of this chapter.
No sign shall be erected or altered in physical structure until the permit required by §
300-52.4 has been obtained and the information required by said section has been submitted.
In the event that a permit is issued by the enforcement official
for the erection or alteration of a sign, the applicant shall, for
protective purposes and at the discretion of the enforcement official,
be required to file a suitable public liability bond with the Village,
approved as to its form by the Village Attorney, to indemnify and
save harmless the Village from any and all damages, judgments, costs
and expenses which such Village may incur or suffer from or by reason
of the granting of such a permit, during the erection thereof.
All sign permits pursuant to the provisions of this chapter
shall expire on the 31st day of December next after date of issuance.
The enforcement official may at any time for a violation of this chapter or Chapter
300, Article
52, of this Code revoke any sign permit upon notice to the person named in the application and after a hearing at a time specified in such notice. The determination of said enforcement official shall be final, and he or she shall thereafter and within three days file a copy of his or her determination of such hearing with the Village Clerk.
