As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES
Those activities necessary and incident to lawfully conducted farming
operations involving the raising of agricultural products, livestock, poultry
or dairy products. It shall exclude the raising of fur-bearing animals and
the raising of livestock and poultry exclusively for sale and slaughter and
fed principally with products bought in the open market.
Subject to the provisions and limitations otherwise set forth in Chapter
178, Zoning, farmers, as well as those employed, retained or otherwise authorized to act on behalf of farmers, may lawfully engage in agricultural practices within the town at any and all such times and all such locations as are reasonably necessary to conduct the business of farming. For any activity or operation, in determining the reasonableness of the time, place and methodology of such operation, due weight and consideration shall be given to both traditional customs and procedures in the farming industry as well as to advances resulting from increased knowledge and improved technologies.
The following notice shall be included in building permits and on plats
of subdivisions submitted for approval pursuant to § 276 of the
Town Law:
This property may border a farm, as defined in § 178-5 of the Williamson Town Code. Residents should be aware that farmers may undertake farm practices that generate dust, odor, smoke, noise and vibration, application of agricultural chemicals and the use of farm/labor camps.
