Middletown Township shall continue to be known
as Middletown Township under this Home Rule Charter. The structure
of government and the general authority of municipal officials shall
be as set forth herein.
The Township shall have and may exercise any
powers and perform any functions not specifically denied by or inconsistent
with the Constitution of Pennsylvania, the Laws of the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, or this Charter.
All powers and functions contained in any or
all ordinances and resolutions which are in force on the effective
date of this Charter, and not inconsistent herewith, shall continue
in force until amended or repealed.
The powers of the Township shall be liberally
construed in favor of the Township in order to provide the Township
with the greatest possible power of self-government.
