A. 
Pursuant to Section 6-1(a)(2) second paragraph of the Charter of the Town of Amesbury, no construction work which involves ground drilling, digging or any other form of excavation shall be permitted within 50 feet of a gas line that is within 300 feet of any school building while school is in session, unless it is an emergency involving public safety. Any excavation in such an area must be clearly marked and inspected by the Building Commissioner prior to digging.
B. 
If there is a need for emergency work within those areas at any time, day or night, notification shall be made to the Superintendent of Schools.
Any such excavation shall also be subject to the requirements of Chapter 400, Streets and Sidewalks, § 400-3 of this Code.
