1-1. All
residential foundation walls subject to the Residential Code of New
York State shall be reinforced with vertical reinforcement specified
in Tables R404.1.1(2), R404.1.1(3), R404.1.1(4), R404.1.2(2), R404.1.2(3),
R404.1.2(4), R404.1.2(5), R404.1.2(6), R404.1.2(7), R404.1.2(8) of
the Residential Code of New York State. All other foundations shall
be reinforced with vertical reinforcement specified in Tables 1807.1.6.2,
1807.1.6.3(2), 1807.1.6.3(3), 1807.1.6.3(4) of the Building Code of
New York State.
1-2. For
buildings or basements, in addition to the above, horizontal reinforcing
as specified in Table R404.1.2(1) of the Residential Code of NYS shall
be required. Further, a minimum of two No. 4 bars shall be installed
horizontally in the footing parallel to the foundation wall.
1-3. The
installation of all reinforcing steel shall be in accordance with
American Concrete Institute Standard ACI 318-14, Building Code requirements
for structural concrete.
All basement floor slabs shall be installed with woven wire
mesh, fiber mesh or reinforcing steel.
Backfill within 24 inches around the foundation walls shall
not consist of cohesive or expansive soils. However, a clay cap of
12 inches is permitted.
Unreinforced foundation walls shall not be permitted.
