Hydrant
permits for tank trucks or hydrant connections greater than one inch.
A backflow preventer or certified (by Water Department personnel)
air gap will be required for all water taken from hydrants served
by the City of Hudson Water Department for uses in this category.
These uses include, but are not restricted to, hydroseeding, paving,
construction, dust control, pressure washing, swimming pool water
and sewer flushing.
(1) Tank
trucks. Tank trucks less than 1,500 gallons will require a yearly
permit with an associated fee of $300 per permit. Tank trucks greater
than 1,500 gallons will also require a yearly permit with an associated
fee of $500 per permit. All permitted trucks shall be required to
produce, on demand; Water-Department-issued permits whenever they
are drawing water from system hydrants. These trucks shall also be
clearly marked with the company name for easy identification.
(2) A
contractor shall provide a City of Hudson Water-Department-approved
backflow preventer where necessary and must have this equipment inspected
by Water Authority personnel annually.
(3) All
permits expire on March 1 of the year following permit issue.
(4) Hydrant
use is restricted to designated hydrants as specified by the City
of Hudson Water Department.
(5) Upon
discovery of backflow preventer malfunction, the permit holder is
required to notify the Water Authority immediately. Failure to do
so may result in revocation of the hydrant permit.
(6) Personnel
from the Water Department must be present while any tank is being
filled.
(7) In
the interest of public health, safety and welfare, Water Department
personnel have the authority to deny access at their discretion.
