The Board of Trustees is hereby authorized to appoint one alternate
member to serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals, the Planning Board
and any other duly organized or hereafter organized board or commission
created by local law. The Mayor and Trustees of the Village shall
not be eligible for appointment as an alternate member to the Board
of Zoning Appeals or the Planning Board.
The Chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning
Board or any other duly organized board or committee may designate
an alternate to substitute for a regular member who is unable to participate
on an application or matter before that board or commission. When
so designated, the alternate member shall possess all the powers and
responsibilities of all other members of the board or commission to
which he or she is appointed. Such designation shall be entered into
the minutes of the meeting at which the substitution is made.
The term of an alternate member to the Board of Zoning Appeals
shall be five years. The term of an alternate member to the Planning
Board shall be five years. The term of an alternate appointed to any
other duly organized board or commission shall be determined by the
Board of Trustees, but shall not exceed five years.
