No person shall move any building or structure through any street
of the City without first obtaining a permit as hereinafter provided.
The City Engineer shall investigate the application. If the
building can be moved without injuring or destroying the shade trees
along the said streets, or without doing other irreparable damage
or injury, and the applicant has otherwise complied with the terms
and conditions set forth in this chapter, the City Engineer shall
issue a permit.
The fee for such permit shall be $25 for each day of the period
required for such moving, as determined by the City Engineer. If the
moving is not completed within the period fixed by the City Engineer,
then the person holding the permit shall pay an additional sum of
$50 per day for each day in excess of the time limit so fixed.
The person receiving such permit shall, at his own expense,
arrange for the removal and subsequent replacement of any wires or
cables which may interfere with said moving. If any wires or cables
which may interfere with the moving pertain to the fire alarm system
or police telephone system or any other municipal system of the City,
then the person receiving such permit shall, at his own expense, arrange
that the removal of the wires or cables will not interfere in any
manner with the continual operation of such system.
Any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall,
upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding $500
or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days, or both. A separate
offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a
violation occurs or continues.
