The Board of Trustees of Public Libraries shall have possession
of the public libraries of the city, and shall be the legal guardians
and custodians of the same. In discharging their duties and responsibilities
in relation thereto, the Board shall have and exercise all of the
authority conferred on Boards of Library Trustees by State law, and
such other authority as the City Council may confer not inconsistent
with State law.
The trustees of public libraries shall cooperate with the school
department in the establishment of libraries within the schools of
the city.
